They’re calling it good news for both consumers and farmers.
They are three Canadian prairie farm groups.
They’re talking about the results of their fifth annual survey comparing the cost of an average basket of groceries to the farmers share of the food dollar.
The good news for farmers – the farmers share of the food dollar remained stable at 33 point 8 per cent.
The good news for consumers – the price for a basket of food remained relatively stable with some sharp declines in high value items such as beef.
Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan President Norm Hall says they do the survey to show consumers that not all the increases they’re seeing at the grocery store come from higher prices for farmers.
